Personality: In many ways, Dame Trixie is what happens when you give Trixie Lulamoon the benefit of the doubt - and remove it from Twilight Sparkle, but we're getting ahead of ourselves.

She's still arrogant, manipulative and narcissistic; she sought power for its own sake in the morass of corruption that was Princess Luna's Night Court; and her first act as the Representative of her Ponyville was to completely and utterly screw up the Longest Night celebration out of a combination of frustration, good intentions and a desire to wield her new power heavily.

Her second act was to save the entire town from Corona, the Nightmare Sun, she-who-was-once-Celestia - proving, in the attempt, that she could become worthy of wearing the Element of Magic, of BEING the element "that is always at your side." She herself understood and told Corona: "Power was never magic. Friendship is magic." And she's internalized that magic is meant to be used for others.

She's complicated like that. Mentorship under Luna gave her self-awareness and a sense of shame and responsibility, which didn't hurt at all. She's still a stage magician, partially at Luna's suggestion; the Princess suggested and she agrees that it's a good way to channel the worst parts of her personality, to be arrogant and bask in adulation as part of a character she tries with no small success to keep separate from her own personality.

And she's grown, since then; she started as a stranger in Ponyville who provoked a much more hostile and antagonistic Twilight Sparkle in a way her baseline self never did, and ended up taking her under her proverbial wing and apologizing for HER part in lunaverse!Twilight's Start of Darkness.

And when presented with a choice between giving up a chance to move up in the Night Court and giving up on Ponyville, she took a third option; reveal the Night Court's corruption, without a thought of reward. That's the reason she's Dame Trixie - she was knighted for her part in that, as were the other element bearers. That, and it's a convenient way to tell her from SN Trix.

Not to say she doesn't get herself into trouble; she's a comic hero as often as she's a dramatic one. She couldn't be anything else, given that she's armed with illusions, a bale of bluster and exceedingly poor impulse control; a third of the problems that cropped up in her Ponyville was due to her dumpth - provoking Twilight into mind-whammying an Ursa Minor, turning Lyra into a human right before the biggest concert of her career (she got better), agreeing to teach Snail('s entire class) magic and thereby giving a pyromaniac her cutie mark, and smashing The Window of her office so many times that she's on a first name basis with local merchant Window Pane. To her credit, she does clean up her messes.

Also of note: Trixie is a very, very friendly drunk. When she's had a couple of shots of her old friend Monsieur Bourbon, her Prench via Neigh Orleans accent gets very thick and she gets rather affectionate. 'Going dumb' is not a metaphor for her drunken self. She also has a penchant for flavor combinations that only SN!Lyra would appreciate, most of them involving tabasco. Mmm... caramel carrots with grass sprinkles and tabasco...

Strengths: Trixie's strengths are the two reasons she's worthy of the Element of Magic.

First, she's the most accomplished stage magician, illusionist and enchantress of her time. She 'casts by ear,' as her Lyra put it, with a more intuitive approach to arcana than Twilight's decidedly scholarly bent; she's more a sorceress than a wizard, to put it in D&D terms, and she casts and thinks on her hooves. She mixes real magic with sleights seamlessly, wearing her hat during performances to cover her horn so that no one can tell if she's casting or using legerdemain. Her magical endurance is not the greatest, so she uses minor spells and cantrips to save power when she can.

Her most notable spells are:
-The ability to 'see' magic, perceiving magical energy as color-coded aura glows; this can be used against her, as she nearly blinded herself looking at Corona before Corona tasted the rainbow. She will know better than to use this against Calice...
-An improved invisibility spell that allows her to become inaudible, as well. If needed, she can combine this with audible glamors that make her transparent to sound rather than merely inaudible.
-A Mirror Image spell, which she combines with invisibility to escape sticky situations.
-Various visual and audible glamors.
-The ability to turn someone into a human with ritual Zebra magic, and the counterspell. Yes, really. Her Lyra has yet to forgive her for that incident.
-A memory transference spell that can be used to restore memories. This backfired hilariously when she visited the mane universe, doubly so because it required a kiss on the mouth as part of the ritual.
-The recipe for a Zebra potion called The Truth Is A Scourge, which inflicts compulsive truth-telling to the point of logorrhea on those who drink it; they speak in a constant babble of their inner, true thoughts until the potion wears off minutes later or is dispelled.

Second: she has taken the idea that magic is meant to help others and that friendship is magic to heart. Unlike some other muses I could name, she will at least attempt to use kindness, honesty, laughter, generosity and loyalty on her antagonists first - before triaging them into potential friends, assholes, and villains.

Weaknesses:
Someone really needs to tattoo POOR IMPULSE CONTROL on her forehead as a warning to others; if there is a way to hilariously embarrass herself, she'll find it. She might be a heroic take on Trixie, but she's still Trixie - a vain, showboating mare with her narcissism and manipulative streak only mostly held in check. Her The Great and Powerful TRIXIE! act is not just an act; that's her bringing that side of herself to the fore.

She's not above wheedling, whining, flattery and manipulation; she wanted to be Night Court, the ruling body of Canterlot courtiers, and that shows - along with her lack of political subtlety. She prefers 'honest' to 'tactless' - and the actual Element of Honesty punched her out for it once.

Trixie is absolutely flummoxed by romance or sexual innuendo of any kind; I head-canon her as strictly asexual (although a chaste romance is possible, if you have a lot of patience) given the way that she's reacted to it in the stories. Read, stuffing her hat over her ears and singing Winter Wrap-Up at the top of her lungs until Cheerilee stopped bloody talking about it (okay, not really, but it's consistent with her behavior in the fics). She gets flustered and embarrassed easily; she's insecure enough as it is. Her position as the Representative of Ponyville was precarious, one step away from the proverbial 'diplomat to the Griffins' job, and she knows it.

Possessions:
1: Her cape and wizard hat.
2: A number of smoke bombs.
3: A number of harmless sparkler fireworks.
4: A bottle of hot sauce.
5: A bottle of bourbon.

Pony/Animal Type: Unicorn, as per canon.
Cutie Mark: A magician's wand with a mullet star, trailing sparks.
Pony Picture: She's Trixie. What do you want.
